Topics our students will be presenting: 

• Alec explores how restoring and maintaining motorbikes can support mental wellbeing, combining hands-on mechanical work with research into the benefits of practical hobbies for mental health.
• Alex shares the journey of writing and illustrating a full-length fantasy romance novel, bringing to life a story years in the making while exploring creativity, storytelling and artistic expression.
• Amelie investigates what stone tools reveal about human cognitive evolution while preserving and showcasing the school’s archaeological artefact collection for future generations.
• Archie explores what makes pop-up events successful by researching event management and running clothing swaps and an art exhibition that bring people together through creativity and community.
• Caspar investigates whether a small guitar-building business can be sustainable while designing and building a custom guitar from scratch.
• Elaine explores the connection between humans and animals, examining the wellbeing benefits of human-cat relationships through research and a mixed-media artwork inspired by her experiences with cats.
• Gabby explores the world of theatre production by directing and designing a student-run play, gaining hands-on experience in leadership, stage management and the creative process of bringing a production to life.
• Georgia investigates how early childhood relationships shape lifelong wellbeing through research into attachment, trauma and child development, complemented by a photographic series celebrating the bond between mothers and their children.
• Isaac explores the art of creating and performing death metal, developing his skills as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter while examining the appeal and musicianship of the genre.
• Jasper explores the 75-year history of Formula One through the creation of a book that examines the sport’s evolution, innovation, safety developments and enduring appeal.
• Jameson investigates what goes into planning and leading a multi-day hiking camp, combining outdoor education with research into nutrition, human performance and physical resilience.
• Lara explores how social media influences youth mental health and brain development, presenting her findings through a creative mixed-media video that encourages critical engagement with the online world.
• Laura explores the intersection of science and art through a series of large-scale artworks that creatively interpret the effects of smoking on the lungs, Parkinson’s disease on the brain, and Tetralogy of Fallot on the heart.
• Nani investigates the role of catharsis in theatre by exploring whether emotional release can be experienced by playwrights as well as audiences, bringing her research to life through the writing of two original plays.
• Oskar explores how people learn new skills by rebuilding a motorbike and investigating the effectiveness of different learning methods, from hands-on experience to mentorship, videos and written resources.
• Phat explores how minimalist composition techniques can be used in film scoring, creating original music that enhances storytelling, emotion and character development in a short film.
• Romany investigates how film influences our perception of reality through the creation of a psychological thriller screenplay and trailer, combining storytelling, filmmaking and psychological research.
• Sam explores how natural environments contribute to wellbeing, developing a design for the school dam precinct informed by research into ecology, landscape design and people’s experiences of restorative natural spaces.
• Vaughan explores how music affects the brain, investigating its influence on memory, emotion, motivation and behaviour through research and interviews with musicians and non-musicians.
